Requirements

Am I Eligible for Psi Chi?

In order to join Psi Chi, you MUST meet all of these requirements:

  • Major or minor in psychology

  • Have at least a 3.0 or higher cumulative and psychology GPA.

  • Be a second-semester sophomore by credit hours (You must have at least 45 college credits on your transcript).

  • You must have already completed nine psychology credit hours (if you are currently finishing a semester to meet this requirement, you will not be eligible until the next semester).

  • Pay lifetime national chapter dues for Psi Chi.

I'm not Currently Eligible To join. What should I dO?
This is not a problem! Join Psi Chi as a prospective member in our Psychology Club, designed for freshmen and those who don't quite meet the requirements. Many of our members and leadership started as Psychology Club members, so please don't be discouraged if you can't join yet. You can still get access to all of our events and resources until you meet the requirements to join Psi Chi, in which you will graduate to an official Psi Chi member.

What are the requirements to be an active member?
We require that all members of both Psi Chi and Psychology Club get 5 points and pay dues to be considered active members. If you don't meet both of these requirements by the end of the semester, you will be put on probation and risk losing eligibility to be a member of Psi Chi or Psychology Club. Three of the points must come from attending meetings, and the other two can be earned by volunteering or through other opportunities given throughout the semester. Check out our calendar page with an updated list of volunteer events and meetings here!

How do I volunteer?
We have many volunteer events available each semester, and our weekly Psi Chi emails will include a list of current volunteer opportunities. We will also include some opportunities on our calendar, available on this website.
Each volunteer event you go to will give you one point. We are also flexible with members using various volunteer opportunities that go beyond this list for points (this list is just a suggestion to help you get involved in the Lubbock community); however, we just ask that you don't double dip using volunteer points from other organizations. Please email our volunteer chair, Isabel Almanza (isalmanz@ttu.edu), with proof that you went to one of the volunteer events listed (like a selfie of yourself there) or with any questions you may have about other volunteer events that you can do!
